FAQs

We're sure you have lots of questions, and we're happy to answer them all. But here are a few things to start with that are good to know....

The best adapted cottage we have ever stayed in. Suitable for both walking and wheelchair users . Bathrooms are fully accessible and very thought out . A nice changed to have a home to cottage experience. Would definitely book again.

You are welcome to check in any time after 4pm on the day your stay begins, there is a key safe so you can arrive whenever suits you, we will send you the code a few days before you arrive.

It takes us the full 6 hours to ensure the cottages are cleaned to our high standards and any maintenance is done, so unfortunately we can't offer early check in. If you arrive in the area early, Friday is market day in Uppingham and Stamford, Saturday is market day in Oakham, why not have a wander round the market and a drink in one of the wonderful cafes until 4pm!

Yes, we welcome up to three well behaved dogs. Please ensure you let us know you are bringing them by selecting the dogs option at checkout. We have taps outside both properties for washing dogs and boots after muddy walks. We will put a dog pack in to the property which includes a towel, a blanket, a water bowl, some doggy snacks and a long lead.

The gardens are fenced, but we cannot guarantee that they are totally dog-proof, so ask that you supervise your dog when they are out.

We make a charge of £25 per dog per stay, adn politely request that they don't go in beds or on the sofas/chairs so future guests with allergies are not affected by them.

If you require enclosed dog walking space during your stay you can book with our friends in Uppingham here: https://dogwalkingrutland.co.uk/

Pubs, restaurants, take aways and shops are available in Uppingham which is one mile away, on the other side of the A47. Unless you are very keen walkers, we recommend a car for guests booking with us.

Yes, we have a 7.2kWh charger on the drive of each property for your exclusive use. The chargers work with the Monta app for payment, so you only pay for the amount you use. It is best to download the app before you arrive and set it up. You can find more information here https://castlechase.co.uk/your-stay/new-car-charging/

There is lots to do in Rutland. It's worth checking out https://www.discover-rutland.co.uk/all/things-to-do/ in advance of your stay. For local recommendations, or specific interests, do ask us when you arrive.

There's also a book of local walks in each property.

During the winter we provide a large box of logs and some kindling which should be enough for two fires. If you need more it is available to buy at £10 per box. Just let us know and we will deliver it!

All the wood comes from fallen trees on the farm, which are seasoned, chopped and stored to ensure optimal performance.

Yes! The properties are recently converted, very well insulated, with an air source heating, hot water system and solar panels.

You will find recycling bins in both properties, with information on what can be recycled in the information booklet in each property.

The properties are both designed to have a good cooling airflow in warm weather, and equipped with table top fans.

Yes, but hair driers are very much a matter of personal taste. A good hair drier to one person is a bad hair drier to another, so we encourage guests to bring their own.

Yes! A walk at Rutland Water is a great way of stretching your legs after the journey, and Normanton is the most interesting spot on the south side. Friday is market day in Uppingham, and a cup of something in one of the independent cafes on the market place is a great way to soak up the atmosphere of a quintessentially English market town.
