A relaxed dog friendly holiday

Bringing your dog on holiday should feel simple and relaxed. At Castle Chase Cottages it really does. Our own dogs are part of daily life on the farm, so we understand what makes a stay comfortable for both people and pets. If you are looking for dog friendly holiday cottages in Rutland, this is a peaceful place with everything you need for an easy break.

Walks straight from the door

One of the nicest ways to start the day here is a gentle walk through Ayston. The road is quiet and the village has a lovely sense of history. A short stroll takes you up to the village green and the red phone box, then on to Ayston Church. It is a calm spot set in the same old parkland that surrounds the cottages.

Inside the cottage you will find a copy of Wills Walks, which is full of local routes that lead you to pretty viewpoints, woodland paths and dog friendly pubs across Rutland and Stamford. Many guests tell us this is one of their favourite parts of staying here.

Thoughtful touches for your dog

After a muddy adventure you can wash paws and boots at the outdoor tap. We leave a dog towel, a water bowl and a few treats to help your dog settle in. Both cottages have luxury vinyl tile flooring throughout. It is quiet underfoot, easy to clean and warm thanks to the underfloor heating. The porch makes a cosy place for your dog to sleep.

Safe enclosed gardens with lovely views

Each cottage has a fenced garden. Because the ground slopes naturally, the gates sit as close to the ground as possible while still opening smoothly. Many guests enjoy sitting outside with a drink while their dog explores. The views across the parkland are beautiful and you may spot bats, birds and cattle grazing in the fields. It is a calm and gentle setting that suits dogs who like space and routine.

Dog friendly days out in Rutland

Rutland is one of the most welcoming counties in the country for dogs. Popular places to explore include:

  • Rutland Water with miles of paths, including hard surfaces suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs
  • Fineshade Woods with shaded trails, wildlife and accessible routes
  • Uppingham with independent shops and dog friendly cafes
  • Local pubs that welcome dogs inside and out

If your dog prefers quiet space away from others, Unleashed in Uppingham is a secure dog walking field only a short drive away. Should you need a vet during your stay, Rutland Vets is less than a mile from the cottages.

A relaxed dog friendly holiday in Rutland

Whether you are exploring the countryside, relaxing in the garden or discovering new walks, Castle Chase offers a peaceful dog friendly base for your Rutland break. We welcome up to three dogs and we are always happy to recommend walks, pubs and places to visit.

I just want to say what a lovely stay we had in your cottage, it was so comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. The location was lovely and so peaceful, we so enjoyed watching the cows.
