A great place for dogs

Who loves taking their dog with them?

We certainly do! The great news is that Castle Chase Cottages is a great place to bring your best friend on holiday with you. Our dogs are with us most of the time so we have designed the cottages to be dog friendly.

We like to start the day with a walk, the road through Ayston is quiet and the village is great to explore with your dog, we particularly recommend a walk up the village green, past the red phone box. The path will take you up to Ayston Church, which is so peaceful and set in the same beautiful parkland as the cottages. Due to there being no road access, it is almost a secret. In the cottages you will also find a Wills Walks book which has other wonderful local walks to take you to the best pubs and prettiest places in the area.

When you come back from your walk there is an outside tap for washing muddy paws (and boots), and we also provide a towel, a water bowl and some treats.

The floors throughout the property are luxury vinyl tile, so lovely and quiet if they decide to potter about. Underfloor heating makes the porches a perfect place for your dog to sleep peacefully.

Our gardens are both fenced, but the drops on the site means that the gates are as close to the ground as they can be and still open properly, we heartily recommend that you take a drink of something lovely outside with you when your dog is in the garden so you can keep an eye on them. The views are wonderful and it’s a great time to watch for bats, birds and see the cattle grazing when they are in the parkland.

If you are out and about Rutland is really dog friendly, Rutland Water and Fineshade Woods are great places to take them for long walks – especially if you need hard surfaces to ensure a wheelchair can roll whilst your dog gets a run.

Should your dog need a safe space to walk away from other dogs, do check out our friends dog walking field in Uppingham Unleashed in Uppingham | Dog Walking Rutland equally should you require a vet during your stay there is one less than a mile away www.rutlandvets.co.uk
